Hop off on an adventure for the long weekend

With the long weekend just around the corner around Australia, whether you are looking for a last minute cheeky weekender getaway or a fun daytrip – we have you covered!

  1. Dandenong Ranges

About an hour away from Melbourne’s inner city, the Dandenong Ranges provides a heap of walking trails and idyllic scenery to spend the day. For something special visit the Alfred Nicholas Gardens or William Rickett’s Sanctuary.

Not too far from the Dandenong Ranges is Taggerty – a great place for a weekend away to relax and recharge. For a lovely day walk, the Waterfalls at Marysville fills the senses with spectacular scenery.

  1. Tulip Festival

If you’re living in Canberra or Melbourne, check out the gorgeous Tulip Festivals. With beautiful weather forecasted for the weekend, this is a great way to spend a day in the sunshine with good food, music and wine!

  1. Margaret River

One for those of you looking to head West. Margaret River is delightful. Great food, even better wine and activities, like caving and swimming with dolphins, means you wont have a minute to be bored.

  1. For the kids – Zoos and Shows

Who doesn’t love a trip to the Zoo? Every city has at least one and it makes a great day out for kids and big kids alike. Check out our posts on Melbourne Zoo, Werribee and Monarto Zoo for some tips and ideas.

Also (drumroll)…. It’s Showtime! Melbourne Show has just commenced. If you live in another east coast city, this is a great weekend away. Check out our tips for a stress free day at the Show.

  1. Cage diving with sharks

If you’re looking for a more zoological experience rather than a zoo, then cage diving with the Great White Sharks is one for you. Think you must be mad to lock yourself in a cage and swim with sharks? Our own #starkravingmad is indeed so – read all about how to do it here.

  1. Red Centre

This one takes a bit of organisation as accommodation in the Red Centre fills up quickly but its well worth the trip and doable in a long weekend (although we’d recommend stretching the trip out by an extra day or two).

  1. Go Local

Just because you’re staying at home doesn’t mean you have to be bored. Hit up a local market, go for a walk (tons of ideas here), try out a dance class or grab a friend and hit up a gym sesh together.

Enjoy your three days of fun!
